The aim of the 2008 International Conference On Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICONN 2008) is to bring together the Australian and International community (students, scientists and engineers from academia, govt. laboratories and industry) working in the field of nanoscale science and technology to discuss new and exciting advances in the field. ICONN 2008 will cover nanostructure growth, synthesis, fabrication, characterization, device design, modeling, fabrication, testing and applications.

Registered participants at ICONN 2008 have the opportunity to publish their refereed research in refereed IEEE Conference Proceedings or in special editions of "Molecular Simulation" and "Australian Journal of Chemistry", provided they pass the normal review process.

The conference will feature plenary talks followed by technical symposia (parallel sessions) consisting of invited talks, oral and poster presentations on the following topics.

  1. Nanomaterials including Nanocrystals, Nanotubes (carbon and inorganic), Nanowires, Nanomembranes & Microfluidics
  2. Bio-Nanotechnology and Nano-Medicine
  3. Nanoelectronics, including Spintronics, Nano-Magnetics, Quantum computing, Molecular and Organic Electronics, Organic Displays, Single Ion Implantation
  4. Nano-Photonics including Nano-optics, Single Molecular Spectroscopy & Plasmonics
  5. Nano-Manufacturing including Industry Issues, Technology Transfer, Metrology & Standards
  6. Nanocomputation
  7. Health and Safety including Environment, Regulation, Ethical and Social Issues, Education, Training and Skills in Nanotechnology
