Professor Samuel I Stupp

Professor Stupp's areas of research include molecular self-assembly, supramolecular organic nanostructures, electronic and photonic properties of organic materials, biomolecular mineralization, templating chemistry of inorganic nanostructures, and biomaterials for regenerative medicine, including the central nervous system, organ cell transplantation, bone, and cartilage. He graduated with a BS in Chemistry from the University of California in Los Angeles and received his Ph.D from Northwestern University, Materials Science and Engineering in 1977.
He is a Board of Trustees Professor of Materials Science, Chemistry and Medicine, Northwestern University and Chairman, Committee for the Review of the National Nanotechnology Initiative, National Research Council and The National Academies.
